Dear God,
The absence of a husband leaves a void that is tempting to fill with everything but You – a new relationship, experience, material possessions, and even lies from the enemy.
Widowhood is full of empty places, starting with an empty seat at the table and then watching future dreams empty, as water drains from a sink. The widow is even empty of the stamina and energy to do the next thing. Everywhere she turns she feels empty – physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Give her the endurance to run the race that has been set before her.
I pray that she will look to You as the only one that is able to satisfy and fill these vacant areas. You created each one of us with a need for you. A God-shaped hole that only You can fill. May your Holy Spirit gently remind her of Your love and presence.
Fill her cup, Lord, just as Jesus gave living water to the woman at the well. As she puts her trust in You, fill her with joy, peace that surpasses understanding, and hope that will not disappoint.
