WidowLife Ministry Update

How are we caring for the widow and fatherless?

Perspective Ministries is now 11 months old! I am still pinching myself that the vision is at the appointed time. God has allowed us to accomplish so much; however, each day we realize there is so much to do. Just think about it – there are 21,000 widows in Atlanta! The good news is God is using you to make a difference.

Because of your investment, WidowLife was able to care for the widow helping to Light Her World in the following ways:

  • New Widows – grief packets were sent out to help with the transition from wife to widow. These include resources to help with their new season of life: A personalized embroidered handkerchief with the book, Tear Soup, introduce them to the grief process. The packet also includes a brochure sharing the Promises of God for the widow and fatherless. We have delivered Bibles and other books to assist where needed.
  • Practical Widow ministry –
    Cleaned houses
    Helped move
    Prepare meals
Celebrated the fatherless and widows on their birthdays with some of their favorite things.
Celebrated the birth of a newborn offering support to her young widowed mom during this difficult time of adjustment.
Remembered with them on the anniversary of the death.
Prayer and counsel daily for those in need
Christmas lights will be installed on 13 homes of young widows and their children. May this small act of kindness literally light their world giving them hope for the days ahead.
  • Mentoring Widows – God has allowed us a monthly opportunity to disciple young and new widows. We are actively mentoring and encouraging these ladies during their time of suffering. One new widow writes, “I can’t begin to express how thankful I am that you listened to the Lord and started Perspective Ministries which encompassed starting WidowLife. This is such an amazing group and the encouragement I receive is just unmeasurable. I’m praying God will continually bless you, your family, and your ministry for being such a huge blessing to others!” Another young widow reflected on the impact of the body of Christ, “I’m feeling very humble today and want to thank everyone who has been praying for us. After some serious stuff, on the eve of the 4-month mark tomorrow, my daughter and I prayed together for the first time today. Every step feels like a marathon so we celebrate every inch of progress. This wouldn’t have been possible without all of your help. We can never thank enough all of the wonderful people in our lives that have held us up while we are so far down.”
  • Church Partners (Connectors) – We are so thankful that God has already given us church partners interested in learning how to care for their widows.
