Jesus modeled prayer when He walked this earth and continues to spend His time in heaven interceding on our behalf. Prayer is an easy and effective way to make a difference in the lives of the widow, fatherless, and those who care for them.
Dear Lord,
Widows are close to your heart. Thankfully, because of this, she will find you to be a refuge and ever-present help in her time of need. We know that you were a man of sorrow, acquainted with grief, and this is encouraging when we experience pain and suffering. You understand her tears, fears, and loneliness, since she has been left alone. Thank you that your mercies are new every morning. Thank you for your promise of compassion and healing. Thank you that you are the defender to the widow as she walks through the valley of the shadow of death. When she feels afraid, please remind her of your comfort. May she stand on your promises confident that you are with her. Thank you for prompting others to care for her in tangible ways. May the widow place her trust in you.
My prayer according to Your Word is …
Day 1: Thank you that you are a defender of the widow and father to the fatherless (Psalm 68:5).
Day 2: Thank you that you hear the cry of the widow. May she cry out to you. “Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless. If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry.” Exodus 22:22-23
Day 3: Thank you for your protection. “The Lord will tear down the house of the proud, but He will establish the boundary of the widow.” Proverbs 15:25
Day 4: Thank you for defending the widow. “He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow.” Deuteronomy 10:18
Day 5: Thank you that widows can depend on you. “…your widows too can depend on me.” Jeremiah 49:11
Day 6: Thank you for the promise that you will bring relief for the widow. “He relieves the fatherless and the widow.”Psalm 146:9
Day 7: Thank you for your great faithfulness. “The Lord’s loving kindnesses indeed never cease…they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
Day 8: Thank you for your promise of healing. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3
Day 9: Thank you that joy comes in the mourning. “Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5
Day 10: Thank you that you are her shepherd and will restore her soul (Psalm 23).
Day 11: Thank you that you are her shield and rampart. She does not need to fear the terror at night. If she makes you her refuge, you will be there for her (Psalm 91).
Day 12: Thank you that you care for her as a husband. “For your maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is His name.”Isaiah 54:5
Day 13: Thank you that your promises do not fail (Joshua 23:14).
Day 14: Thank you that you promising to be the strong redeemer for her children (Proverbs 23:10).
Day 15: Thank you that you promise to hear the prayers of her fatherless children. May they cry out to you (Psalm 10:7-8).
Day 16: Thank you that you will care for her children promising to keep them alive. May her children direct their focus to you who is able to bring life after death (Jeremiah 49:11).
Day 17: Thank you that you will assist her family. Please send people to walk alongside of her (Job 29:12).
Day 18: Thank you for the promise that you will teach her children. May they be teachable and students of your Word (Isaiah 54:13).
Day 19: Thank you for the promise of peace for those who keep their mind focused on you. May their perspective be eternally on you (Isaiah 26:3).
Day 20: Thank you that this season of suffering will come to an end and will not overtake her (Isaiah 43:2).
Day 21: Thank you for hope. May she know that she will see your goodness (Psalm 27:13).
Day 22: Thank you for your promise of life after death. May she allow you to glorify yourself through her walk through the valley (Psalm 118:17).
Day 23: Thank you for your provision. May she experience your goodness knowing that you do not withhold any good thing (Psalm 84:11).
Day 24: Thank you for your everlasting kindness. You will accomplish what concerns her. She does not need to worry (Psalm 138:8).
Day 25: Thank you for the gift that comes from trials. May she persevere to receive the blessings that come only through suffering (2 Corinthians 4:15-17).
Day 26: Thank you that you will comfort her in ways she will later use to comfort others (2 Corinthians 1:3-5).
Day 27: Thank you that your grace is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Day 28: Thank you that you will uphold her (Isaiah 41:10).
Day 29: Thank you for the promise of rest (Matthew 11:28-30).
Day 30: Thank you for working all things together for good for those who love you (Romans 8:28-29).
Day 31: Thank you for your provision for eternal life. May she know you as Savior (Romans 10:13).
