Dear Lord,

Sickness has been around from the beginning in the garden, but it seems to be overtaking the world like most of us have never experienced before. We all carry the heavy load of grief from missing someone we deeply love.

I pray for the widow who has lost her husband to COVID. The enemy has attacked through this disease, as a thief that steals, kills, and destroys, leaving the widow in shock. For many, death came suddenly without time to properly say her goodbyes. She may have been unable to be with him in the last weeks, days, and hours. She is left to wrestle with many emotions over what took place in his final days, knowing that none of the answers to her questions will bring her husband back to life in this world.

I pray you would give her support during this time of grief. I pray she would turn to your Word for daily food that will nourish her soul. I pray you would give her a safe place to work through the uncomfortable emotions of fear, confusion, and anger. I pray you would allow her to forgive where any wrong was done and protect her from a root of bitterness that seeks to plant itself in the deepest part of her heart.

Thank you that you are a man of sorrow and acquainted with grief. I pray she would press into you instead of running away. Please comfort her as only you can. Even now, I pray that you would start the process of restoring her soul.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
