The Lord continues to highlight the key word in James 1:27 and that is to visit the fatherless and widows.
“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction…” KJV.
The Amplified translation reminds us to “visit and look after the fatherless and the widows.”
At the beginning of the year, I laid before the Lord pages of ideas and vision for Perspective Ministries asking Him to give clear direction for 2017. The Lord has been so kind to clearly answer that prayer. God promises that “if we seek Him, we will find Him.” Oh, to live the rest of this year experiencing God in the way I have this month as I cried out to Him and heard His voice!
As a “missionary” to the widow, I believe my call is to take time to visit her. With thousands of widows in the metro-Atlanta area alone, there will always be someone to visit and ladies who need care. The act of “visiting” and listening allows a time for the needs of the widow to surface providing opportunities to take care of the widow and fatherless. God knows that in helping others, we are reminded of the way He helps us. Our ultimate ministry goal in taking care of the practical needs of the widow is to ultimately show the love of Jesus. He will be a defender of the widow and a Father to the fatherless. Through testifying of God’s faithfulness to His promises, may the widow seek to put her trust in Him.

The children pictured below baked pies and cookies to sell during Thanksgiving in order to earn money to give to the ministry for the purpose of purchasing blankets. God will bless those who bless the widow.
